Dear Blog Friends, I need a pretty blog header...

I wish I knew people who had awesome graphic design skills. For years now I have wanted a cute header for my blog. A picture of orchids with a pretty font. I usually give up every time I Google image search "Orchids". If anyone out there wants to help me I will love you forever and make you something cute and or delicious.

A Non-traditional Hanukkah

It is time to light that menorah. Domino mag, my bible, or in this case torah featured these creative twists on your family's old menorah.

Do I ever mention that I live in New York?

I have been thinking about the shape my blog will take in the new year.
Tomorrow morning I leave New York. I have been here for 3 and a half months about. I am going home for about 3 weeks to my home in Malibu. Nicholas and I had Artichoke Pizza last night on 14th between 2nd and 1st ave. I wish the past few months I had documented my time here. There are so many places we have discovered and I haven't even had the time to write about them. Tonight we are going to get our favorite hot dogs from Crif Dog on St. Marks.

I stumbled upon this photo on a friends blog and was comforted when I realized it was of my home.

help get me through winter

I am in love with these knit neck warmers from Ozetta's Etsy store! They seem so snuggly they are perfect to wrap yourself up in this winter.

my favorite color...

Marigold, or as Pantone has it titled, "Mimosa" is predicted as the top color of 2009!
I'm glad they finally got the memo. I even felt the need to wear my old marigold tights the other week for a friendsgiving potluck dinner. It looks like American Apparel even brought back their old marigold color hoodie out of retirement.

Of course I will never abandon my O.P.I "need sunglasses?" nail color.

some marigold items that i need in my life:

coming and going coat rack from urban outfitters

A set of Baggu re-useable shopping bags.

"Stay Gold" shirt from Sophmore NYC

how we dress in california pt. 1

I just threw this together quickly. embarassing to my blogging skills but I just want to get it out before refining it. especially since I dont feel as though I write enough. It is almost winter here in New York and I'm learning how to layer, in a sad attempt at keeping myself warm I can't help but compare the way my friends and I dress back in California and the way I dress here in New York with my new friends from school.

Here is california in the summer and early fall. This is just how everyone dresses everyday. I guess i would say i miss my wardrobe being so carefree and casual

i need more studs in my life

my next studding project are these babies.

Wednesday, October 15, 2008

I grew up in the costume dept.

LA company Costume Dept. is giving Amer. Appar. a run for its money with their patterned and glitzy leggings. The line launched in March makes its leggings from random fabrics sourced in downtown LA's garment district. That means that these leggings are limited editions. Make sure you check back each month for new designs. Plus these babies are totally reasonable in comparison to pairs of 50 dollar plain leggings from AA.
Buy them here, and do it fast!

Here are some of my favorites

Kenya Chic

I can't actually decide what pair to get! too bad I found out about these after buying leggings from AA, or else I could splurge and get the Kenya Chic ones.

Alphabetize me.

Initials are back, and they are BOLD.

These alphabet bags are all over the blogosphere (I think that's what this place is call). Quickly snatch one up before they are no longer cool.

The new wave of American Apparel shirts...with writing on the front can be purchased here. Look out for the letters "E", "K", "Z", "R" and "G".

also I enjoyed this little PSA from AA:
Please Note:
Rather than waste garments with small yet interesting imperfections, our creative team goes back to the drawing board and comes up with solutions that makes them even more unique. Each piece is one-of-a-kind and each style is made in very limited quantity. Be on the lookout for the next round of designs.

Freshman dorm rooms can disappoint.

I started college and have been in the adjustment period, trying to get used to my new surrounding and trying to meet new people and make some friends. I have barely had any time to check my email let alone update! Sorry to let you all down. This week, after being here two and a half weeks I finally decided I should put some shit up on my walls. Let me tell you now, I have very very LITTLE space to work with. I am practically sleeping in my roommates bed, that is how small our room is.

My bed is the orange bed spread closest to the camera. I'm also thinking of moving to a nicer dorm at some point, and I am barely even in my room at this point either.

We have a view of lower Manhattan.
We also have a view of the East River and Brooklyn.

Best chair in the world.
This is the common area...it needs some help.
